Ace jack suited is a strong hand you open from every seat, far better than its offsuit version because the suit and flush potential give it room to keep playing when the pair gets dominated.

The suit is the whole difference from ace jack offsuit: it makes the nut flush and gives you backup equity when you make a pair that might be behind. Against heavy preflop action from tight players it plays more as a flat call than a four-bet, because top pair with a jack kicker can be second best.
