Is king queen offsuit a good hand?
King queen offsuit is a solid broadway hand that opens from every seat, including under the gun, making strong top pairs while staying wary of the hands that dominate it.
King Queen Offsuit
PlayableOpen it from any seat. Under the gun it sits near the bottom of your opening range, and from the button it is one of the better hands you raise. It makes strong top pairs and broadway straights, but without the suit it has no flush outs, so it relies on making the best pair. Facing a re-raise from an early-position player it is usually a fold, and out of position it is rarely worth a call.
This hand opens for a raise from every position, including under the gun.
Common mistake: Calling re-raises out of position, or paying off big bets with top pair against an early-position range. Ace king, ace queen and the big pairs all have it dominated.
Quick tip: An open from every seat, but a fold to most re-raises. Its trouble starts after the first raise.
